Poetry – The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

Episode notes
What do I look for in poetry? What does anyone look for in poetry?
My simplest formula is to sense emotion, a passion unearthed or inspired, an excitement enriched or created. I tend to look for these things in longer poems because through the development of a poem, and as I am slow burner, I come into these sensations over time (or word). In recent times I have also been inspired by the shorter forms, but my default setting remains more easily moved by a longer representation.
When Billy Bob Thornton in his gig in Berlin’s iconic SO36 mentioned The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, I immediately looked it up, there and then, to see what he was talking about. His description was spot on and I was transfixed.
Inspired by Bob…thank you.
Enjoy!
