Critical thinking

Critical thinking is the disciplined process of actively and objectively analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing information to form a judgment. It involves questioning assumptions, recognizing biases, assessing evidence, identifying logical connections, and considering alternative perspectives before reaching conclusions. In short, it’s thinking that is clear, rational, evidence-based, and reflective rather than impulsive or unquestioned.
This episode lays out why I left Christianity and why I think morality doesn’t need a god. I call out how shame and “black-and-white” rules harm people, contrast that with a harm-based, human approach to ethics, and explain how history—not just science—undercut my faith. I acknowledge useful ideas from religious traditions but push back on moral gatekeeping and Christian nationalism. Bottom line: we can grow, care for each other, and live ethically without religious authority—and we should stop weaponizing guilt.
