Acts 1 (Part 2): 12-26 - Choosing a Replacement the Old Way

Through the Bible with Pastor Paul by Paul LeBoutillier

Episode notes

Why did the apostles cast lots to replace Judas? Acts 1:12–26 shows the disciples waiting in Jerusalem after Jesus’ ascension, praying together and seeking to fill the twelfth apostle’s place. Peter points to Scripture and sets qualifications, leading to Matthias being chosen by lot. But Pastor Paul explains this was the old way of decision-making, before the Spirit came at Pentecost. You’ll see how this passage highlights the difference between human methods and Spirit-led guidance, and why waiting on the Holy Spirit brings wisdom, order, and peace.
