In this episode, discover how the courage of families like that of Linda Brown helped change the course of American history. After Linda was denied admission to a nearby all-white school in Topeka, her family joined other lawsuits challenging segregation. Led by attorney Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP, the case reached the U.S. Supreme Court. In 1954, the Court unanimously ruled that “separate but equal” schools were inherently unequal and violated the Constitution. The decision became a major turning point in the Civil Rights Movement and helped advance equality throughout the United States.
