The Observation Deck #10: Observations on Zoning Laws
In this episode, we talk about something that both of us are very passionate about: Zoning laws. We discuss the reason why they exist and the problems with them in today's day and age, with the real estate market so hot in Toronto it could become a fusion reactor.
The Observation Deck #9: Observations on Pipelines
In this episode, we talk about the Line 5, the oil pipeline that the Michigan Governor is trying to shut down. This pipeline supplies most of Ontario and Quebec with oil, but the Governor is trying to be more "green." whatever that means. We of course also talk about the pipeline hack that happened last week, which caused many individuals to use plastic bags of all things to hold gasoline in. It's one heck of a show this week!
The Observation Deck #8: Observations on Governments and thier chances for corruption
In this episode, we start with a pretty simple question: Are dictatorships always bad? Seems pretty straight forward, right? We then discuss the many different forms of governance, what it means to be good or bad, and what it means for something to be "theoretically" good. Of course, we also go on about twenty different tangents, but that's all part of the fun!
The Observation Deck #7: Observations on Lockdowns
This episode, we discuss our feelings on the new lockdown restrictions in place in Ontario, and compare them to other places in North America. Are lockdowns necessary? Whose fault is it that the lockdowns are happening when so much of the world is opening back up?
The Observation Deck #6: Observations on Climate Change
This week, we discuss the ever-important topic of climate change. First, we discuss the carbon cycle in general, Canada's carbon neutrality, and of course we talk about the obvious solution of nuclear power. Don't worry though, we still find a way to complain about the CCP!
The Observation Deck #5: Observations on rap
In this twist episode, we talk about music, and more specifically a controversial question: is rap music? We break down both of our opinions, the reasons behind them, and maybe even come to an agreement on the topic!
The Observation Deck #4: The minimum wage
This week, Noah and Thomas discuss the concept of the minimum wage. How is a living wage decided? What should the minimum wage be for? What's the right minimum wage? All these questions and more are discussed on this episode.
The Observation Deck #3: Canada and the rest of the world
We're back! After a few weeks of hiatus, we've come back to discuss what may be the most boring two words in the English language: foreign policy. Don't worry though, we find some ways of including everything and the kitchen sink in our discussion on how Canada interacts with other countries, mainly the dreaded CCP from China, around the world!
The Observation Deck #2: How should we judge the past?
In this episode, we discuss the very important topic of history: How should we judge the past? Should we take modern morals and principles into account? How much should we consider the conventions of the day? Join us for this great discussion of historical context, statues, and much more!
The Observation Deck #1: Reddit Vs. Hedge funds, and Canadian political issues
On this episode, we discuss the recent Gamestop short squeeze, The Conservative Party of Canada kicking out Derek Sloan, and Trudeau's vaccine rollout issues
