Jeni Britton Bauer - Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
The more that I read about founder and Chief Brand Officer of Jeni’s Ice Creams, Jeni Britton Bauer, the more I knew that I needed to interview her. Jeni walked right out of a college classroom to begin selling ice cream. When her first business, called Scream, didn’t take off in 1996, she got right back up on her feet, and in 2002, founded her most successful venture, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. The business now has over 66 retail locations in the US and is sold in grocery stores nationwide. If that weren’t enough, Jeni is also a James Beard award-winning author of a book on how to make the perfect ice cream at home, called "Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home.” During our interview, I was inspired by her intelligence and free spirit. Please welcome to the show the incredible founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Ms. Jeni Britton Bauer.
Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry - Royal Wedding, The Power of Love, and Current Affairs
You might have heard or watched the dynamic sermon titled “The Power of Love,” from the 2018 royal wedding of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle, delivered by the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael B. Curry. I was one of the billions of people who were captivated by his words that Saturday morning, and as I sat there, I knew that I had to meet him and be in his presence. That same year, I was a sophomore at an Episcopal school in Atlanta. Much to my surprise, I requested, and was granted to have a one-on-one interview with the Presiding Bishop. I was overjoyed. Not only did he deliver the sermon at the royal wedding, but he is also the first African American Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. My interview with the Bishop that day remains one of my most precious memories, and I am still so honored. On April 30th of this year, I was a participant in the Interfaith Service for the Inauguration of Dr. Helene D. Gayle, the 11th President of the college I currently attend, Spelman College. In a twist of fate, the President and The Presiding Bishop are friends and grew up together in the same neighborhood in the State of New York. He gave another dynamic sermon for the Inauguration Interfaith service, and that day, we were reunited. Sometimes, I feel like we were always meant to know each other. Once again, the Bishop graciously agreed to sit down for an interview with me, and we had an incredible conversation. 5 years later, here is my conversation with the phenomenal Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Michael B. Curry. Follow on social media! Twitter: https://twitter.com/miraelizabeth_ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/themiraelizabeth/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@miraelizabethh
