Season 1
A statement made but a big banana skin ahead
Later than usual to account for the midweek trip to Hull KR, your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back! Matt Turner is straight off the motorway and straight into the studio to join Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning to dissect a superb result and performance from The Wire. We ask where the victory at Craven Park ranks among the best of Sam Burgess' era and what doors it could open up for the remainder of the season. The chaps also discuss captain George Williams' impressive return to the team from injury, the performance of Wire's starting middle and whether or not Ewan Irwin is a 'bolter' for England's World Cup squad. Attention then turns to Huddersfield Giants' visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday as Warrington bid to avoid an "after the Lord Mayor's Show" display against an in-form Giants side that has won its last four games. Will the Round 24 game go to form? Or is this a big banana skin for Burgess' boys? All of that and more discussed in Episode 26 of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast.
Recruitment, dream locations and squad management
Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back for another week! Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning pick their way through a busy week at The Halliwell Jones Stadium either side of Saturday's win at Bradford Bulls, which has included two exciting announcements for 2027. The chaps discuss the signings of props Toby Crosby and Mitchell Prest and with the clash with Wigan in Dublin now officially in the calendar, they discuss their dream locations for watching a Wire match. In the present day, Warrington are approaching a busy week with a Thursday-night clash with York Knights followed quickly by Tuesday's rearranged trip to Hull KR. The lads put themselves in Sam Burgess' shoes to say how they would manage the squad through this run of three games in 10 days to keep themselves in the hunt for the upper placings in Super League. All of that and more in Episode 25 of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated weekly Warrington Wolves podcast
Lift off for Toff and assessing the top-six picture
Our Warrington Wolves podcast is back from its summer break! Matt Turner, Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning regroup to discuss The Wire's progression towards sealing a Super League play-off spot - but where can they actually finish? With Saturday's win at Castleford Tigers having kicked off a run of fixtures that are deemed more presentable in some quarters, we also discuss whether or not that actually does Sam Burgess' men any good when it comes to the questions that hang over them. A highlight of recent matches has been the return to fitness and form of overseas prop Toff Sipley - are we finally starting to see what Warrington signed him for? And how key is his bench partnership with Joe Philbin? As Wire prepare to head to Bradford Bulls this weekend, could there be changes made to the team? With squad management paramount over the coming weeks, we pick out a few players who look like they could do with a rest. All of that and more in this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast.
The hosts answer YOUR questions
Your latest dose of Warrington Wolves chat from the Warrington Guardian has given you the chance to have your say. For this very special episode of our Wire podcast, we invited listeners to submit their questions to hosts Matt Turner, Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning and the response was considerable. In this week's episode, the chaps answer questions about The Wire's forward pack both in the present and the future, head coach Sam Burgess and how he moves forward with the club and Cai Taylor-Wray's injury struggles among other topics. Is Burgess feeling the heat? And is Hull KR a 'must-win game?'
Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back and as always, there is plenty to talk about... Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning dissect the Round 18 loss to Wigan Warriors, in particular the assertion from Sam Burgess that it was execution as opposed to complacency that cost them the game. In spite of an error-strewn display, we discuss whether or not there were any small signs of progress with the ball and whether or not Wire have become reliant on Ewan Irwin - and whether or not that is much of a surprise. With form having taken a dip, Burgess has cut a more exacerbated figure in the press as criticism of the head coach from the terraces starts to resurface - does he look like he is feeling the pressure? Wire's fixture list is not getting any easier, with defending champions Hull KR the visitors to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday. Is this a game Warrington simply have to win? All of that and more discussed on this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast
It's not getting any easier...
Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back for another week! Mike Parsons is back to rejoin Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning to pick over what happened on and off the pitch at Magic Weekend - it was a big tick for Hill Dickinson Stadium as a venue, but not so much for The Wire's performance in defeat to Leigh Leopards. The chaps discuss whether or not head coach Sam Burgess will reflect on his team selection and wonder if he got it wrong, while they also discuss Sky pundit Sam Tomkins' prediction that Wire will now fall away and finish outside the play-off places. With a trip to a similarly depleted Wigan Warriors to come, we discuss whether or not Sam Powell's suspension should open the door for another talented young player to show he has both a short and long-term future at the club. All of that and more in Episode 21 of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast.
Can depleted side make some Magic?
Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning are back for another dose of Warrington Wolves chat! It was another win for The Wire last time out, but it came at a cost - we dissect the victory over Catalans Dragons, what we really liked about it and how a trio of fresh injury blows has left the squad as stretched as it has ever been. With key players dropping left right and centre, we also ask whether or not it might be time to bring Marc Sneyd back into the side as a guiding hand, or would that create more disruption than is necessary? Matt and Gareth also set a points target for a tough run of fixtures throughout July, which starts with the Magic Weekend clash with Leigh Leopards. Super League's annual summer extravaganza heads to the brand-new Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool - a new ground for many, but not Everton FC fan Gareth who gives us a hint of what to expect from the state-of-the-art waterfront venue. Could it go straight in at number one as the best ever Magic Weekend venue? It has some strong competition to beat... A stumble or a fall as the heat turns up?
Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back! Mike Parsons is back to rejoin Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning to look back over a difficult week in the wake of a defeat to Leeds Rhinos. Was the manner of the defeat cause for greater concern? Or will Sam Burgess' persistent trust in youth continue to serve them well? We also assess whether or not criticism of the forward pack is justified before turning our attention to Catalans Dragons' visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium. With record temperatures expected, will Wire sizzle in the sun or wilt in the heat?
Message sent - another to follow?
Our weekly Warrington Wolves podcast is back for another episode. We're a troop light this week but Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning are still here to look back at an excellent week for The Wire - and look forward to an exciting one to come. Both were at the BrewDog Stadium as, driven by a plethora of young talent, Warrington won 18-6 at St Helens to set up the chance to finish Round 15 as Super League's new leaders. In order to do that, however, their team and the unbeaten home record face their biggest test as table-toppers Leeds Rhinos arrive at The Halliwell Jones Stadium. We discuss where the game might be won and lost, and why we feel the Wire barmy army have a big role to play in this top-of-the-table showdown.
Let's see what this team is really made of...
We are back! After three weeks away, our podcasting trio of Matt Turner, Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning are back together to get themselves reacquainted with all things Warrington Wolves - and there is plenty to discuss! While recent performances haven't been entirely convincing, The Wire are handily placed in the Super League table but with a potentially defining run of fixtures about to start, we discuss the team's readiness for what is coming their way. We also discuss some of the news coming out of the club in recent days, namely Max Wood's loan move to Hull FC and Toby King's impending departure to join London Broncos. Wood's temporary departure in particular has caused a huge backlash among supporters - so has Sam Burgess made a mistake? And is it the right time for King to move on after more than a decade at the club? All of that and plenty more discussed on this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - your weekly Warrington Wolves podcast brought to you by the Warrington Guardian.
