Digital Literacy: Beyond the Tools
In this episode, I examine how my understanding of digital literacy has evolved from an emphasis on technical competence toward a more critical appreciation of the ethical commitments associated with technology use in the classroom. Looking at these ideas within my own practice as a classroom educator, I consider the tensions between innovation and responsibility, and reflect on the role of teachers as critical mediators of educational technology rather than passive adopters. The episode argues that in an increasingly data-centric and AI-saturated educational landscape, digital literacy must be understood not simply as a functional skill but as a professional and ethical imperative for educators and learners alike.
