The verdict is not a ruling that genocide has been legally established. We steelman the other side at full strength: no court has ruled, and none will soon. The ICJ has set South Africa's Reply for November 2027 and Israel's Rejoinder for May 2029, with jurisdiction and admissibility contested. The intent standard is high — genocidal intent must be the only reasonable inference. Benny Morris and other serious scholars dissent. The IAGS resolution passed on 108 affirmative votes out of roughly 500 members, and about 200 scholars called for its retraction.
