The surface story — Kael, a seventeen-year-old with unusual internal resonance, arrives at an academy run by a system called the Dominion that wants to study, contain, and redirect people like him. He finds his tribe: Lyra the empath, Orin the archivist, Sable the unshakeable. He finds his mentor in the margins — Elder Sorn, the janitor who carries four generations of suppressed lineage knowledge. And he makes his first move.
