Episode notes

The 2026 run of false albacore continues to carve a unique path, with distinct gaps in the fishery and heavy blitzes in places where this kind of action in mid-September is rather rare. The epicenter is central Rhode Island through central Connecticut, with a slowly improving bite now taking hold in Nantucket Sound. The striper bite is also sneaking back to life as the shark influx seems to be rapidly dissipating, and with so much bait setting the table from the Cape to Connecticut, it’s easy to see that the fall run is primed to catch fire at any moment. With a strong temperature drop forecast for this weekend, look for bait movement in the estuaries to kickstart fall run action out front.
