In this episode, Melissa talks to a New Zealand Department of Conservation tara iti ranger about the Tara iti intensive management program, and about the difficulties of working with a wild bird that crosses organisational boundaries. There's a lot of organisations, and a lot of eyes, helping the tara iti. And there's one surprising aspect of tara iti management that in some ways is the backbone of the program.
In this episode, Melissa goes behind the scenes at Auckland Zoo, where a captive rearing program aims to aid in the growth of the tara iti population.
