“The Case for LAND REPARATION NOW in Jamaica.”

Land in Jamaica is not simply about property. Land is about power, opportunity, wealth, identity and the future of generations to come.

For centuries, the ownership and control of Jamaican land have been shaped by colonialism, slavery and systems that left many Jamaicans without meaningful access to the very land on which their ancestors lived and worked.

So tonight, we ask a fundamental question: Is it time for Jamaica to confront the historical injustice of land ownership and begin a serious conversation about land reparations?

What would land reparation actually mean? Who should qualify? Who should be responsible? And, most importantly, how can we correct historical injustice without creating new injustice?
