In the summer of 2003 in Clear Lake City, just outside of Houston, Texas, 18 year old Tiffany Rowell was living a fairly carefree life, she had graduated from high school the previous year and was working as a waitress in a local bar, alongside her best friend Rachael Koloroutis. Along with her best friend Rachael, Tiffany’s boyfriend 19 year old Marcus Precella and his cousin 21 year old Adelbert Sanchez also spent a lot of time at the house.

On Friday July 18, 2003 the group planned a party for the evening, inviting all their friends. One of Tiffany’s friends, came around to the house with some other people who were invited to the party at about 6.30pm and nobody answered the door. But they could hear the TV playing inside the house.
