This is the final episode of Spirit and Sound. I tie up some loose ends, including a meeting with a city commissioner, archbishop, and a special guest. Thank you for listening!
In this episode, I explore the churches in the historically black neighborhood of the West Grove. These churches include Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Greater St. Paul African Methodist Church, and St. Matthews Community Baptist Church. For each church, I've interviewed a selection of music directors, priests, etc- asking them questions about how music is a vehicle for religion
The first episode of Spirit and Sound focuses on St. Hugh Catholic Church. This episode includes an introduction to the project (how it all started), interviews of priests and music directors, and clips of music from services.
