Ep. 3: Griffin Sherry - Brutal Maine and Haunted Houses

Songscapes: Music and Nature by Charles Coplin, Sustain Music and Nature

Episode notes

Griffin Sherry, guitarist for Ghost of Paul Revere, is a true ‘Maine’iac. Along with his band members, who have known each other since they were toddlers, they create “holler folk” music inspired by rock legends and traditions of communal music making. In this episode, Charles and Griffin nerd out over Led Zeppelin, and discuss how Maine has shaped Griffin. “I could never leave this state. It’s elemental, but also brutal” which has fostered a fierce community of support. Hear about the ghosts of songwriting and the ghosts that crept around his house growing up. Find out how Ghost of Paul Revere’s “Ballad of the 20th Maine” got unanimously voted as the State Ballad and what it felt like performing the Gettysburg tribute down south.
