Torah Psychology Is Not “Just Open Chazal”: Rambam, Therapy, and the Soul
Shvilei HaChassidus | שבילי החסידות by Shvilei HaChassidus
Episode notes
Can Torah psychology be derived by simply “opening Chazal”? This seminar argues that the real question is not whether Torah has a different telos, but whether telos can be translated directly into therapeutic method.
We use the Chasam Sofer and Minchas Pitim as a foil, then turn to Rambam’s Shemoneh Perakim, Avos 5:11, Rabbeinu Yonah, Toldos Yaakov Yosef, and Arvei Nachal to show that different meta-psychologies produce different readings of middos, anger, and therapy.
