The Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) is an initiative in India allowing MPs to recommend developmental projects in their constituencies. Launched in 1993, the scheme allocates ₹5 crore per annum to each MP for creation of durable assets. It aims to address the community needs of constituencies through locally beneficial projects.
