We're waking up to a classic Rhode Island trick. That inch and a half of snow looks innocent enough, but there's a hidden layer of ice underneath. Watch your first step this morning — that black ice is silent and slick. But don't worry, the weather gods are about to flip the switch.
In the next 24 hours. By 9 A.M., the fog burns off and the sun takes over. Providence shoots up to 54 degrees this afternoon. That's a solid 24 degrees above normal for early March. Down by Narragansett Bay, you'll top out near 47 degrees with a light west breeze. The ocean keeps the coast a bit cooler, but it's still feeling like spring away from the water.
