Welcome to Project Cornersone, Project Cornerstone is a nonprofit organization committed to breaking the cycle of incarceration by providing career-focused education and hands-on vocational training to incarcerated men and women. Founded by a former contractor and current prison vocational instructor, Project Cornerstone bridges the gap between the construction industry’s labor shortage and the untapped potential of individuals inside the correctional system. Through a hybrid learning model, inmates gain access to trade-based educational materials via secure digital tablets and computer labs, complemented by scheduled hands-on workshops that meet industry standards for safety, technical proficiency, and certification readiness. Our mission is to give justice-impacted individuals the tools to rebuild their lives — transforming time served into time invested. By equipping students with skills in trades like electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and heavy equipment operation, Project Cornerstone helps returning citizens secure stable employment, support their families, and contribute to their communities. Project Cornerstone partners with employers, trade unions, educational institutions, and correctional agencies to create a sustainable workforce pipeline — one that promotes rehabilitation, strengthens the economy, and reduces recidivism through the dignity of work.
