When Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins climbed into their Apollo 11 spacecraft in July 1969, they were about to accomplish one of humanity's greatest achievements. But what most people do not realize is that the three men sitting shoulder to shoulder atop that massive Saturn V rocket were, by their own admission, something closer to amiable strangers than close friends.
