Episode 81: Lanterns Trailer, Where's the Green?!

The Lanterns trailer dropped, and honestly… I walked away feeling pretty damn optimistic about it. Right away, what stood out to me was the cop dynamic between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. It feels grounded, it feels investigative, and it already hints that there’s going to be a lot more depth to both characters than people might be expecting. You can already sense the mentor/partner tension brewing, and if the show leans into that, we could be in for something really special. But of course… the internet had other priorities. Instead of talking about the tone, the chemistry, or what the story might build toward, a lot of people immediately jumped to complaining about what wasn’t in the trailer. No green suit. No glowing green aura when Hal flies. No giant constructs. And look—I get wanting to see that stuff. We all do. But the reaction is starting to feel like people are just looking for cracks in the armor of the DCU and James Gunn’s vision before anything even has a chance to breathe. It’s getting exhausting. At some point, we’ve got to allow stories to build instead of demanding every visual payoff in the first teaser. So in this episode, I’m talking about why the Lanterns trailer actually gives us a lot to be excited about, what the Hal/John partnership might evolve into, and why patience might pay off big time with this show.
