You’ve probably heard someone say, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” It’s a great tag line. It’s short, has Jesus in it, and includes rhyming. Unfortunately, it has become so easy to say that people sometimes use it for everything from a meaningless quip to a mean spirited declaration of war against anyone who happens to say, “Happy holidays.” Thankfully there is another concise description of Christmas we can turn to. We find it in Galatians 4:4-5, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as God’s children.” These two verses will serve as our guide through this Advent Season!
