God’s work in Christmas isn’t just the birth of Jesus, nor is it simply the provision of a path for the forgiveness of sins. In Christmas, God works a new power structure, a new economy and a new social order. It’s what we know as the kingdom of heaven. In God’s kingdom, the humble and poor are exalted and the rich and proud are sent away empty. In this kingdom, true peace is found—the peace that passes all understanding.
