That trace of rain we picked up — about six hundredths of an inch — is already gone. Dense fog blanketed parts of the Piedmont and mountains this morning, dropping visibility to a quarter mile in spots. Made for a tricky commute. That fog should lift by late morning as sunshine punches through. Once it clears? Beautiful afternoon ahead with mostly sunny skies. Highs today reach the mid to upper 70s statewide.
