If you stepped outside this morning, you might've thought someone turned the state into a cloud. Dense fog has rolled in overnight, dropping visibility to a quarter mile or less across the Piedmont and Triangle. The National Weather Service has a Dense Fog Advisory through 11 A.M. Take it slow if you're commuting. Use your low beams, not your brights — fog turns high beams into a wall of white. Give yourself extra space.
Once that fog burns off by late morning, we're in for something special. Highs climb into the mid to upper 70s statewide — about 31 degrees above normal for early March. Charlotte and the Triangle both hit 78 degrees. Even the mountains see a pleasant 74. Light west winds keep things comfortable. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me.
