Fifty-six degrees right now under partly cloudy skies. And that mild overnight low of 39? That was your first clue. Something has shifted. That stubborn cold air damming parked over us? It's gone. A Bermuda High has set up shop off the coast, pumping warm southerly air straight into the state.
In the next 24 hours. We're looking at highs tomorrow in the mid-70s. That's about 42 degrees above normal for early March.
Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies statewide. Lows dip to 47 degrees in the Piedmont and Triangle. Down in Western North Carolina, it's a bit cooler at 42 degrees. One heads-up for your Wednesday morning commute: patchy fog could develop, especially in the foothills and south of I-85. Give yourself a few extra minutes.
