In this third episode of Non Neurotypical Art Students, I talk with Marieke. She is a third year bachelor students at the Graphic Design department of the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and is diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and dyslexia. We talk how she approaches academic texts and the positive side of failing. How she took a week off and how it helped her and how her neurotype helps her with her creations at the art academy.
ADD is a subtype of ADHD and lacks the ‘hyperactivity’ in the name. People with ADD may have problems with inattentiveness, but not with hyperactivity or impulsiveness. ADD can sometimes go unnoticed because the symptoms may be less obvious, but face similar problems regarding concentration.
