There are many misconceptions surrounding dyslexia. Bilingual dyslexics can be successful and bi-literate.

Bilingualism is the ability to speak two languages. It may be acquired early by children in regions where most adults speak two languages or when a child is raised with parents or parents who use their L1 at home.

✅Research findings prove that people with dyslexia who are bilingual outperform their monolingual peers. However, they experience difficulties in their schooling.

✅Bilingual dyslexic students can experience different severities depending on the language systems. A child whose first language is Italian will have mild deficits with their L1, whereas they will struggle with English or French because those languages are more phonetically complex.
