AMMIT Devourer of Souls
Ammit (Egyptian Mythology) Origins: Ammit, known as the “Devourer of the Dead,” is a creature from Egyptian mythology dating back over 4,000 years. Abilities: With the head of a crocodile, the body of a lion, and the hindquarters of a hippo, Ammit sits by the scales in the underworld and devours the hearts of those judged unworthy, condemning their souls. Interesting Lore: Ammit doesn’t actively hunt but waits in the Hall of Maat during judgment. The threat of her consumption served as a strong moral warning, as Egyptians believed one’s actions in life determined one’s afterlife.
