Episode 109 - Kalina Leopold, Transformation Coach
Kalina Leopold is joyful, wise, reliable & full of heart. She also always lands on her feet. Kalina is a transformation coach empowering women and men to drop the negative self talk and create the life they want. Her work focuses on shifting perceptions, self awareness and authentic communication. Her mission is to guide others in creating lasting and powerful transformations in their lives, and therefore the lives of those around them. Kalina is passionate about creating lasting social change and has launched Brave & Unconformable, a series of facilitated conversations about racism, discrimination, privilege, misogyny, social justice and how to become a better ally. The goal of the project is to get people talking. For folks to share their experience, listen and [un]learn. The aim is to facilitate a “brave” space for people, especially white people, to ask questions, learn how to be an ally, and get comfortable with the discomfort of talking about race and social justice. Learn more about Brave & Uncomfortable at www.facebook.com/groups/braveanduncomfortable When Kalina's not guiding others in transformation, she's been known to tear up the Austin karaoke scene with a mean Chrissie Hynde rendition and hosts her own podcast, Judge Free Zone - a podcast for people who are not afraid to get real, where she chats with amazing humans about some of life’s most valuable messes. Episode 100 part 2, William Balmer, Dir. Sales & Marketing Brunswick Bank & Trust. a/k/a Dad & Pop
Episode 100 continues as I sit down with the other half of the chief mullet shapers, William "Billy" Balmer, a/k/a Dad, a/k/a Pop. A proud USMC veteran and vet of the NJ banking scene, by day Bill is the Director of Sales & Marketing for Brunswick Bank & Trust. Founded in 1902, Brunswick Bank and Trust was started on one idea, helping people. At the time it opened its doors, a bank of its kind didn’t exist in the local area. While the national bank set out to help citizens from a government level, and the savings bank helped them with investments, the founders of Brunswick Bank and Trust strived for a more inclusive approach to banking. When not engaging in his favorite pastime of making a Wegman's run, Pop is an active member of the dynamic grandparenting duo of Gabby & Pop where he specializes in antagonizing and riling up his grandkids to the delight of their parents. Pop is also an active volunteer at area soup kitchens and currently serves as a Deacon at the St. James Memorial Episcopal Church in Eatontown, NJ. While the church is closed, you can find their services online at: www.stjameseatontown.org . On a personal note, much like his parenting partner, I also appreciate my Dad for always being there with his love and support no matter what I'm doing - even if it involves being the 100th person to throw on a mullet wig and take a pic for some reason! Thanks Pop, much love brotha!
Episode 100 part 1 - Jane Balmer, a/k/a Mom, Gabby
In celebration of 100 episodes of the Mulletcast, I went back to the people who started it all - mom & dad! In part one of this very special two-part series, I chat with mom. By day Jane Balmer is the Director of the Rossmoor Adult Community Association. Rossmoor is an award-winning Adult Community that covers 418 acres just off Exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike, in the heart of Central Jersey. This stunning, gated New England-style community boasts more than 2,300 Manors, 3,000 residents, an 18-hole championship golf course, a well-appointed fitness center, and a spacious clubhouse. The rest of the time, Jane's an award-winning parent and grandparent affectionately (and as I'm sure she'd admit appropriately) known as Gabby to her 6 grandkids. Most importantly, 'ol Jane's firmly in my corner even if she may not quite understand why I do all of this podcasting. Thanks Gabs, love you!
