Billy Wilder's 1959 comedy follows two musicians Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) in 1929 before the big crash who witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and go into hiding as two female musicians Josephine and Daphne on tour with Sweet Sue's Society Synchopators.

They both fall for Sugar Kane Kowalczyk (Marilyn Monroe) who sings and plays ukulele in the band while Daphne is also relentlessly pursued by a millionaire named Osgood Fielding (Joe E. Brown) all while the Chicago Mob led by Spats Colombo (George Raft) also search for them to rub them out,

It's a send up of the old Gangster Films AND the Screwball Comedies of the 1920s and 1930s.
