Dispelling Minority Distrust: COVID-19 Edition

In this episode we discuss current distrust in minority communities of the COVID-19 vaccine. As we uncover the social determinants of public health the contribute to the disproportionate numbers of minorities contracting the virus compared to their white counterparts, we analyzed the data illustrating that by in large minorities are reluctant to vaccinate themselves. Based mainly on the historical events like the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, we unpack the origin of distrust and turn to black physician-scientists that support the vaccine and encourage other minorities to take the vaccine. We close by answering common questions about the vaccine straight from our listeners.
