Good morning. Minnesota. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside right now and you'll feel 36 degrees under gray skies, but winter's about to remind you who's boss. A cold front is barreling through. And it's bringing a messy transition tonight. Rain kicks off this evening around 5 P.M, in the metro, then flips to snow overnight. The heaviest snow hits around 2 A.M. — you'll wake up Wednesday to about an inch on the ground.
Up north, you're already dealing with it. The Brainerd Lakes saw a quick dusting this morning — 2 inches in spots. Another round arrives this afternoon with snow likely through tonight. Temperatures drop to 24 degrees with northeast winds gusting to 25 miles an hour. That's the kind of wind that finds every crack in your jacket.
