On a fungal terrace food world, a recon platoon drops through a spore-heavy siege atmosphere to identify what happened and mark targets for orbital destruction.

The alien enemy castes ambush from the ground and air, but the deeper horror is in the corporate logs: a sentient species was altered by humans, split into functions and grafted with fungus to keep the sector fed.

As spores blind sensors and biological interference breaks the uplink, the mission stops being a simple target-designation run.

The platoon is pinned between swarming lower castes, raptor-form attackers, and bio-artillery giants while the evidence points back to the people who built the food world.
