Met by Coincidence

by Alex Matthews
Season 1
Jordan Wommack
Explicit
Jordan Wommack is a comedian, actor, and the expert on spotting when a guy is clearly in a monkey suit in the hit Tubi box-office-blast of a movie, “Primate.” We met by coincidence last year at a party hosted by our mutual buddy bro Ben Taylor. We reconnected at Easter celebrating eggs and decided it was go-time to do a pod. In this episode, we talk about evil babies with knives, white girls named Fatima, the cults we’ve been part of, and defending phrases like “creamy” and “that’s beastiality, bro.” Just uh…listen in. It’ll make more sense than trying to explain in a podcast description. One of my favorite convos of all time. So glad I hit the record button. Sam Wiens
Explicit
Sam Wiens is a director and writer that I met by coincidence last year on the set of “Need No Man.” While filming, we performed some goofy impressions and discussed deep Marvel + Star Wars lore. I knew I needed to have him on the pod because…goofy impressions and nerd talk? That’s essentially all we do on Met by Coincidence. In this episode, we talk about the importance of small film budgets, we go behind the scenes on Sam’s film “the Brink,” talk about childhood movies like “Everyone’s Hero” and “Chicken Little, and why you should learn to adapt your goals as an artist. It was an awesome convo that I’m super pumped to share!! Enjoy! Follow Sam on Instagram! @samwiensfilm Follow the pod on Instagram! @metbycoincidence

Daria Good is an actress, producer, and future Oscar winning star of a cool detective noir film. We met by coincidence in college at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts over four years ago. When I first met her, I knew right away she would lead our class – and I know one day she will probably lead the world. Which will be awesome. In this episode, we discuss crazy roommate stories, what events can lead to becoming an artist, we create a story to a play, and what Olympic events we would absolutely DESTROY in. Daria is artist who is dedicated to her craft while also still being incredibly humble and kind. She da best. Follow Daria on Instagram! @daria.is.good Follow the pod on Instagram! @metbycoincidence

She has been venturing the world but finally has returned to Los Angeles, allowing us to reconnect and goof around. Hannah is an incredibly talented artist and it was so awesome to get to hang with her (and da Winnie.) Follow Hannah on Instagram! @hannahbialous Follow the pod on Instagram! @metbycoincidence
Jingbei Bai
Explicit
Jingbei Bai is a filmmaker, actor, and passionate crusader for societal change. We met by coincidence on the set of Things To Do Before You Turn 18 around three years ago and became fast friends after filming at least two scenes involving a dumpster full of bicycles, a sandwich, and fake money. In this episode, we discuss the Obsession movie art director controversy, finding our "why" as artists, the pressure of becoming a martyr for what you believe in, and dating app ads floating around the internet that feel a litttllleee racistttt. Jingbei is an inspiring artist with a voice everyone should take the time to listen to!! Follow Jingbei on Instagram! @jingbei.bai Follow the pod on Instagram! @metbycoincidence
Zach Allsbrook
Explicit
Zach Allsbrook is a drag artist, creature actor, and the CEO of Halloween who I met while attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts about 7ish years ago. In this episode, we dive into what weapons need to become more mainstream in media, finding community in a crazy town, the behind-the-scenes of becoming a drag artist, and the bat-credit-card. Charlie the Cat
Explicit
Charlie is my childhood cat who I met by coincidence around ten years ago. While usually very talkative in his native cat language, "meowenise," he stays pretty quiet in this mini-episode. So I do most of the talking. In this mini-episode, I talk about what makes Charlie "Charlie," spending time in Iowa, and reflecting over an embarrassing high school story that still makes me cringe to this day. He doesn't have an instagram, but you can still follow ours: @metbycoincidence
José Valle Jr.
Explicit
José Valle Jr. is a director and all-around filmmaker who I met by coincidence on a film set about a year ago. Between takes, José and I bonded over our shared time in Iowa (and the mutual understanding that nothing beats Casey’s pizza.) In this episode, we dive into spooky ghost-vampire stories, the difference between “my film” and “our film,” the lessons film school can’t teach you, and why representation on screen matters so much. It was an honor getting to sit down with such a talented filmmaker and artist. José is absolutely going places, so keep an eye out for his work. Elena Nicholson
Explicit
Elena Nicholson is an actress, producer, and dance choreographer who I met by coincidence while at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts about four-ish years ago. Elena lights up every single room she steps foot in – so I was beyond excited to get to have this convo with her in my first ever very special two camera set up!! Wooo!!! In this episode, we talk Veggietales, surviving explosions at burger joints, how to have ‘optimistic hunger,’ and learning to be yourself when the world tries to shut you down. It was an awesome, amazing, spectacular time talking with Elena. She puts up with all my craziness like a pro. Hope you enjoy it!! Alexia Molinari-Giorgi
Explicit
Alexia Molinari-Giorgi is a makeup artist in the entertainment industry who I met by coincidence on a film set about a year and a half ago. She ended up being one of the biggest inspirations behind starting this podcast — not just because she’s an incredibly talented artist, but because she’s genuinely one of the coolest people to talk to. Meeting people like Alexia made me want to reconnect with the fascinating people I’ve crossed paths with over the years… and now, a year later, here we are! In this episode, we talk about working on the Michael Jackson biopic, swimming with whales, navigating the chaos of film sets, and spooky ghost encounters. It was an absolute pleasure hanging out with Alexia — and with her dog Ziggy, who may very well be the coolest dawg to ever dawg.
