Suzanne was not developing properly as a teenager. She was also told she would never be able to have children. Her reproductive organs never fully developed. This was due to a prescription of DES that her mother took while she was pregnant with her. DES is a medication that activates estrogen in order to prevent miscarriages in pregnancy, It sounds like a promising medication, especially if you want to continue pregnancy, give birth, and keep the baby. However, it has damaging side effects that can create birth defects in newborns.
