Season 1
A Promise in the Past - Hebrews 11:22 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: Genuine faith believes even when the promise has yet to be fulfilled. This is the nature of our faith, and the way of the cross. DO: Fix your eyes on what is not yet seen. Our hope lies beyond the horizon. By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones. - Hebrews 11:2 Sermon Notes
A Promise for the Future - Genesis 50: 15-26 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: Joseph demonstrates his godliness in forgiving his brothers, trusting what humans do for evil, God can turn to good. The reality that he is godly is shown in his care for those he forgave. His faith shows through in his trust in God’s word for the future in his burial instructions. DO: Believe the promises of God. Your future is secure. Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here” - Genesis 50:25 Sermon Notes
A Trial - John 12: 20-33 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: God could have saved Jesus as he saved Isaac, but he did not. Jesus came to die, and when the hour of that death arrived, he remained faithful to the task. Thus, his name is glorified above all names, and your life can be redeemed. DO: Accept the willing sacrifice of Jesus for your life. Step into the enigmatic and counter cultural world of God’s kingdom. “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” - John 12:23 Sermon Notes
A Test - Genesis 22: 1-19 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: God tests us to build our faith and reveal what is on the throne of our hearts. He is always good and always faithful to his promises. We are to worship God alone. God has provided the sacrifice. When we die to self, we find life. DO: Trust God is good and faithful to his promises in any temptation or any test or trial. Repent of idols and worship the One True Living God. Praise God for the sacrifice he has provided. Die to self and live life to the full. Take your son, your only son Issac, whom you love…” Genesis 22:2 Sermon Notes
A New Covenant - Luke 22: 14-23 (Lost & Found)
Looking Back Looking Ahead Presently Looking Sermon Notes
An Old Covenant - Genesis 15: 1-21 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: God promised Abram an inheritance. That inheritance was beyond what Abram could hope for or begin to see in its fullness. Abram believed, and God called him righteous. The gospel in its kernel form was revealed, a gospel we all benefit from as Abram’s offspring. DO: God is faithful. Believe that. Believe and hope in the gospel of justification by grace through faith. And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness. - Genesis 15:6 Sermon Notes
Fullness - Galatians 4: 1-17 (Lost & Found)
KNOW: The Fall was not the end. What seemed fatal was only the beginning, and God always has an end in mind...always. Adam’s fall led to Christ rise, and a plan of redemption was initiated that would be fulfilled “In the fullness of time.” Not a moment too early, not a day too late. DO: Find spiritual freedom and fullness in Christ. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law. - Galatians 4:4 Sermon Notes
