In this review, I revisit an episode where SG-1 is not dealing with an alien threat, but with the fallout of a man with narcissistic tendencies developing a full-blown god complex once he finds himself in a position of power. It’s one of the first times the series really digs into the responsibility the SGC carries into other worlds — and how blind faith and manipulation of power can collapse into outright harm.

Along the way, I get into the parts of this episode that still feel uncomfortably relevant, and why it gives us more to wrestle with than you might expect this early on in the series.
