During the board and train, it used to be that a lot of trainers advised that the owner not see the dog while the dog is at camp. We find it to be a very important training opportunity to have the owner work with the dog at a midway lesson. Not only do we get to transfer the commands over to the owner but see what kind of habits the dog associates with the owner and nip them in the bud. Happy to be taking a break from talking about the property and talk dog!
We are here! We have been adjusting and moving to the new property. Training has been continuing as usual as we move on to a new group of board and trains. Our dogs are loving the new crib and making themselves at home. It has been a lot on us and we are loving every bit of it. Hear about some of the steps we been taking for our dogs, the trainees and ourselves the past few weeks. Stay tuned as we adjust to the new and we will be talking more dog with you very soon!
We have been doing Lake Erie Dogs for three years in a very limiting location for a rapidly expanding business. We have put in the work, been told no a lot, kept our heads down and listened to those that have believed in us. Our business has been bottlenecking as we have been wanting to offer more to our clients and community. We are happy to announce that Lake Erie Dogs now has a new property to operate the business and make into our new home. We cannot wait to share it with all of you and your dogs.
Dogs live a thousand times harder than humans that's why they have less time on this earth. This week we had a hard loss, as Tom's family dog Captain passed away. Captain was a constant in some hard times for Tom. If it were not for Captain, Lake Erie Dogs would have never become. Captain not only significantly impacted Tom but also the hundreds of dogs Tom has been luckily enough to train. We are grateful and celebrate the life Captain lived.
The day you purchase your dog or pay the adoption fee is not the end of the investment of owning a dog. Not only do we need to have money for the vet in case of any emergencies but we must be able to feed our dogs a healthy diet. All dogs have grooming needs to be tended to on a regular basis, as well. You may not to need to invest in training on an advanced level but its essential to build communication with your dog. Let's talk about how dogs learn and how we use basic psychological science to teach. The more you reward the right choice the more the dog will make the right choice. The more you properly correct the wrong choice the less the dog will make that choice. Learn how to guide and direct your dog toward the right choices.
