Good morning. Kentucky. I'm Aaron Jolly. Kentucky woke up to two completely different mornings. North of I-38, you're dealing with freezing rain and sleet glazing up bridges and overpasses right now. South of I-38? Just cold rain. Here's why. In the next 24 hours., A warm front is pushing north while cold air drains south from the Great Lakes. Rain is falling through that dry air and cooling as it drops — meteorologists call it wet-bulb cooling. That's pulling temperatures below freezing in the north even though warmer air sits above you. Roads are fine, but elevated surfaces? They're icing up fast. If you're in North Central Kentucky, that wintry mix continues through 10 A.M. Highs struggle to 39 degrees today. Tonight drops to 38, but then something wild happens — temperatures rise overnight as warm air floods in. Central Kentucky, same story. ...
