While traveling in Lijiang, Yunnan, I met He Yong'an, a local Nakhi girl, and I have the pleasure to invite her as the first guest speaker to my interfaith dialogue podcast! In this conversation, we explored the cultural roots of the Nakhi, the lingering traces of matriarchal society and their practice in Yunnan, and the Nakhi pantheistic religion and reverence for mountain deities.
