His journey from student politics to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly is unlike most political careers. In 2019, he became the first independent student union president of Jai Narain Vyas University in Jodhpur. Just four years later, he contested the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election as an Independent and won from the Sheo constituency. But this conversation goes far beyond politics. He joined the NDA in 1971 - one month before the Indo-Pak w@r began. His batch was commissioned early so they could be sent straight to the border. His elder brother, Captain SR Bakshi, was killed in the 1965 w@r. He joined to avenge that death - and spent the next 37 years fighting for this country. He fought in the 1971 w@r on the Eastern Front under Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He commanded his battalion in Kargil. He led counter-insurgency operations in Kishtwar and Rajouri-Poonch.
