Also known as self-petition, VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) provides domestic violence survivors, men and women, with the means that are essential to escaping violence and establishing safe, independent lives. As a victim of abuse from your U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (LPR) spouse or US children over the age of 21, you may be eligible to obtain immigration relief on your own but the first step is to talk about it.
