The Apostle Paul would be the first person to speak up about the value of knowledge and wisdom, so why does he seem to diminish the value of knowledge here? Paul, of course, believes that knowledge is important — this very letter has been a series of answers to their questions! The real point is that anything, even something as valuable as knowledge, is worthless without love. Without love, good things like knowledge just make us feel superior to others and can lead to actions and attitudes that destroy others rather than building them up. Instead, we must have the mind of Christ to build up others in love.
