BROKEN PRISON SYSTEM FOR TRANSGENDER WOMEN:

Transgender women of color are jailed at disproportionately high rates and suffer trauma, discrimination, and violence more brutally than the general population. As Iya Dammons, executive director of Safe Haven Baltimore, powerfully noted: “We’re dying at an alarming rate.”
