Give Thanks in All Circumstances | 1 Thessalonians 5

This week Chris Foster follows up on recent sermons about contentment and joy with a simple but meaningful challenge: make thankfulness a regular part of your walk with Christ.

He shares a conversation he had with longtime Greentree member Myrlen Trout. Growing up, Myrlen’s mother required her children to write one thing they were thankful for each week and place it in a “thankfulness jar.” At the end of the week, she would read the notes aloud. Chris believes this lifelong habit of gratitude is one of the reasons Myrlen has such a consistently good attitude.

Chris then points to 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, where Paul gives the church these final instructions:
