Thailand is a highly divided society – politically, economically and socially. Politically, the rivalry between the red shirts and yellow shirts are still present and brewing. This is compounded by the economic divide – Thailand being one of the most unequal societies in the world. The division also has a generational (old vs. young) and geographical (urban-rural, north-south) dimensions, making the existing divides much more complex, even explosive.
