In the third episode of Good Sense, Vivak Soni and Rowan Fortune examine the book 'Fossil Capital' by Andreas Malm. How did the rift between human society's mode of production and nature begin? Malm rejects old paradigms of scarcity, instead looking at contests of power between capital and labour. 'What we call Man's power over Nature turns out to be a power exercised by some men over other men with Nature as its instrument.' Thus wrote C.S. Lewis, which Malm quotes approvingly.
