In honor of New York Fashion Week, today we celebrate Harlem-based fashion designer and hip hop icon Daniel Day, better known as “Dapper Dan.” "Dap" made his mark in the 1980s by blending luxury label logos into hip-hop aesthetics. Known first for his jackets and coats, the self-taught tailor dressed artists such as LL Cool J, Run-DMC, Eric B. & Rakim and Salt-N-Pepa and athletes such as boxing champions Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather.
